Malin Ohlsson
Says Greg McGee of Malin Ohlsson, "These are some of the most tenderly beautiful pieces we've exhibited. Malin is a world class representative of Sweden and we are looking forward to seeing her next collection in 2012."
Says Malin, "The ability to interpret, formulate and conceptualise the world, not
through words or letters, but with durable metals using my own hands,
is for me infatuating and mesmerising.
I will never have fully mastered my craft, nor do I wish to. It is the
constant improvement, new techniques or new takes on ancient ways that
makes silversmithing so appealing. It is a craft as old as man, yet at
the same time still in the forefront of contemporary design.
I am intrigued by the legacy we carry with us from our mothers through
what they have achieved and what they do and in my work I try to
capture their warmth, nurture and strength.
Through spinning and raising I have created objects related to women
and mothers. I try to capture their softness by the use of silicone
and through the form and surface of silver."
